Multiple Changes in Romans Leadership: One Out, Two In

Following a brief period of inactivity, multiple changes in Romans leadership have occurred. UlyssesNardo long term veteran of the army has retired, while Znation returns with DBSA as their new co-leader. Read on as we dive into this shift in the community and what it means for the army.

What Went Down

As we see multiple changes in Romans leadership, it’s important to know what made these changes happen. January 29th marked the day Ulysses Nardo rejoined the Roman’s leadership. Having previously been a leader upon their return in June 2025, Nardo rejoined as Legate. While his first stint ended briefly following internal conflict, his second chance was thought to be a blessing to leaders Znation and Csani, both new-generation leaders. Romans saw initial success, winning the inaugural Army World Cup, only their second ever trophy across their history, alongside reaching new sizes. However, this would not last much longer as internal conflict amongst the leadership would brew, leading to the departures of Znation and Csani, with more staff following along. Romans attempted to continue in the strides, appointing Slash as new leader. However, this didn’t change much, with the army ultimately falling into inactivity, leading to multiple changes in Romans leadership.

Multiple Changes in Romans Leadership

June 8th marked a turning point as Nardo, announced he would be stepping back and would return as advisor. In his announcement, he mentioned that no longer had the time to devote to the army and needed to focus on life more. Having been around the leadership for five months, it will certainly affect how the Romans operate. While his time as leader was cut short, he plans to stay around to support those who come next. Following this announcement, Smurf, Romans Consul, announced that Znation would be returning to lead. Meanwhile, DBSA, former Void Troops leader, would be joining the team. Alongside Slash, both will be leading the Romans into a new era, starting with their 19th anniversary on June 10. With the experience of both new leaders, the army hopes to make a strong comeback in the community.

Interview section

Club Penguin Army League reached it to both Znation and DBSA for interviews regarding their new ones and hear about what comes next. Here’s what they had to say:

Interview with DBSA

Having recently just officially left Void Troops, what was involved in your decision to return so quickly? What changed and gave you the motivation to continue in the community?

Leading with friends and trying to build a good community

Romans is one of the oldest armies in CPA history. What was the reasoning behind joining such an iconic army? What was the process behind it?

Romans is such a cool army and I liked its structure a lot, me and znation decided to lead romans and try to establish something good out of the current generation

Romans across its history has been predominantly a small/medium powerhouse. With the community constantly evolving and more restrictions on armies these days, is the plan to remain as what you previously were or push onto bigger prospects?

We’ll try to comply with the new terms and the stuff cpal and cpa have been setting up, we definitely have a lot of big goals and possibly move into bigger prospects is what I think. wait and see what happens i guess 👀👀👀👀👀👀

Coming out of a period of inactivity and, community members seemingly showing interest in joining the army, would there be any plans to try push Romans further into the spotlight?

Of course, we’re planning a lot of stuff to turn into a good s/m and max good to turn the army into viable condition again

Interview with Znation

You left Romans just a few months ago and had planned to open your own army. What changed in recent weeks that made you want to return to the army?

I was planning to open my new army with dbsa but the Romans higher ups convinced me to rejoin Romans

You have experience leading the army already but now it’s with a new set of leaders. How do you think this will be in terms of cooperation and new ideas being developed?

I think with the new set of leaders it will be a fresh new start with better cooperation and more fascinating ideas being brought on the table

Back in February, you won Roman’s their first trophy in the CPPS era and second in their entire history. Do you have plans to go after more trophies or do you have something else in mind for the time being?

I plan on reviving the sm army regime and challenge sl for the best sm army title and win the cpal tournament

Given you’ve been out of armies for awhile now, do you think it will have any impact on how you perform in this generation of Romans? Do you feel you may need to ease yourself back in or will you get straight to work?

I feel like I’m more experienced and well equipped to lead this generation but it might take some time for me to fully lock in

Both Znation and DBSA share similar ideas and aims for the coming months in Romans. They both want to be the best small/medium army in the community, a title currently held by the Shadow Legionnaires. While it’s a tough task to achieve especially with how the army dwindled in activity recently, however they are confident in their abilities. Only time will tell how this new era of Romans will do. Will they pick up where they left off when Znation left? Will they be able to maintain their goals or will the declining activity creep up on them?
