Passing The Torch: Games Retires From Romans

Romans witness yet another departure, as Games retires quietly on September 24. A prominent leader who commanded the Romans since revival, his retirement felt rather subtle to many in the community. We will explore this topic further to uncover what happened.

The Romans have remained a consistent Small/Medium army during recent months. Their feats and presence in major army events such as the Summer Blitz tournament, going neck to neck against the prominent Dark Warriors. Their impact in the S/M armies sphere has been greatly noticeable, ranking amongst the top in their league.

Recent Romans events.

Games‘ retirement fell a day after the departure of former Romans leader Judy and simultaneous promotion of Yellow Typer, Sumdog, and Znation on September 23, 2025, with Sumdog taking a step back from leadership in the following week. With one of the first leaders of Roman’s current generation retiring, a lot are left wondering what the future of the army awaits.

After several leadership changes, Romans currently have Znation, YellowTyper, ToxicStorm, and Venom/Tom at the helm of the army following these retirements. Games cited his post on the Romans website that he has full trust in the next line of leadership and their capabilities to raise the army to new heights. On the Romans site, Games indicated that his obligations in life would be a barrier to his work in the army, and that Venom/Tom would be taking over his role of Consul. Znation, Sumdog, and YellowTyper would take over as Legates (Roman leaders are referred to as Legates, while Consuls are leaders but with guardianship notations).

Club Penguin Army League reached out to the newly inducted leader, YellowTyper, regarding the retirement of Judy, Sumdog and Games to find out more about the future of Romans.

How have these retirements impacted Romans?

It’s always a challenge when we lose people, especially when it happens so suddenly. Znation and Yellow Typer have really stepped up to the plate in this difficult time and we will continue to move forward as a group. I’d like to thank Judy, Games and Sumdog for giving their time and energy to Romans and we will always be appreciative of them.

With multiple changes in leadership positions, how do you think Romans will progress?

Of course there will be changes, Znation and Yellow Typer haven’t been around armies for a particularly long time and it’s my job to mentor them and get them up to speed. From what I’ve seen they’re both making progress in leaps and bounds and they both have my full support to take Romans forward.

We’ve noticed the Romans leaving the CPA organisation. What can we expect from Romans in the future regarding league and CPPS involvement?

For now the focus is on Romans. In this modern era there isn’t particularly any rush to be in any league at the moment. For now we will be mostly sticking to CPJ as we attempt to rebuild. We all enjoy armies but frankly we don’t agree with recent events that have happened in the political sphere and we’d like to distance ourselves for the time being.

Only time will tell how the massive changes within the Romans affect their future. Nevertheless, the new leadership seems confident to continue in the steps of the recent retirees, with the full support of their former colleagues. How do you think Romans will adapt to these changes?
