Dark Pirates Shutdown: Rough Seas Sink a Promising Return
What started as an exciting new chapter ended in the Dark Pirates shutdown. The revival carried real momentum from the start, backed by experienced leadership and a strong opening event that suggested great things were ahead. Despite that promising foundation, internal issues and leadership instability proved too much to overcome, bringing the army’s journey to an abrupt and unexpected end. Here is a closer look at the full story.

The Dark Pirates of Club Penguin were founded on April 10, 2023, by Ninjaleader and Defender Tide. Before creating DPC, the pair led another small/medium army known as the Baseball Team, which faced early scrutiny but managed to stay active. After eventually merging into the Penguins of Madagascar, they shifted focus toward building a new project. DPC officially opened on May 6 with a training event that saw 12 pirates attend, marking the beginning of their presence within the CPA community. However, following many successful generations which saw the army reach major status and news heights, the Dark Pirates shutdown once more.

A New Generation
After merging with the Cryo Vanguards, and building a new team, the army’s newest generation revived on March 21. With a maximum size of 23 achieved and strong coordination between troops, a promising comeback was expected. The revival, initiated by leaders Cyber and Siri, aimed to bring the army back in action with renewed goals and structure. With strong efforts and potential shown, co-founder Ninja Leader, later joined the leadership to further support the newest generation.

Dark Pirates Shutdown
Despite the promising start, things unraveled fast. A private conflict broke out among staff members over sensitive, personal, and, religious matters, splitting the team and driving out two key members. Shortly after their argument, the army’s main leader, Cyber, resigned and departed to join Fire Vikings. Having played a crucial role in the rebuild — bringing in experienced staff from across the community — his sudden exit took much of that foundation with him.
The fallout was swift and tore the army apart and roughly half of the remaining staff stepped down almost overnight. Allegations of troopstealing against former Captain Cyber quickly surfaced. Many active DPC members claimed he had poached them directly, though Cyber maintained he had simply recruited them independently. Crazyflame held on until the very end, but other commitments made it impossible for him to carry the army alone. With no stable leadership or active team left, the decision was made to have Dark Pirates shutdown.

Club Penguin Armies League reached out Ninja leader and Siri for an statement following the DPC shutdown.
What led to the decision to shut down DPC?
Ninja Leader – Basically Shazam now known as Cyber has been changing names in the community for ages and he is an army hopper, A friend of his told me that he even left the army he created to join an another army. I was uninformed regarding all of this, When cyber reached me out he sent me a list of big goals and he was very motivated, I felt that he can bring a change and he did bring a change but by bringing staff members from all the old armies he served in and other people throughout the community, so that’s the back story behind the revival. Once he left to join FV, he took all the staff members with him which is fine but then he started to steal the troops as well (which he claims he recruited which is totally false), So the army had nothing to carry on with Crazyflame stayed with the Dark Pirates still the end but he was also busy and couldn’t take on this big responsibility so we decided to shut down the army.
Siri – Well, An internal conflict went on about a group of staff members (which shouldn’t be mentioned) that had a specific history with one of the leadership members, and issues regarding religious topics. This split the staff team and made two impactful staff quit the server, along with our main Captain, Cyber, which subsequently destroyed the team’s morale and hope for the success of the army’s revival Half of the staff team quit right away, while the other half was either not active during the incident or trying to fix everything. Though a good part of the leadership and HCOM+ members were trying hard, a decent part of the staff had already quit, and so the server couldn’t move on, which led to it being shut down
The revival of DPC began with high hopes, driven by experienced leadership and early success. However, internal conflicts, leadership instability, and the sudden loss of key members quickly dismantled that progress. Despite genuine efforts from remaining leaders, the lack of unity and manpower made recovery impossible. In the end, DPC’s shutdown reflects how even the most promising revivals can fail without stability and trust. What truly keeps an army alive – strong leadership, loyal members, or the unity between them?
