The Special Weapons and Tactics have officially announced a final shutdown. Once a dominant force in the community, the army’s recent years have been defined by internal turmoil and a steady decline in power.
A Bleeding Legacy
The Special Weapons and Tactics reached its peak during the 2020 revival, when the army was hitting highs of over 100 penguins under the leadership of Zuke, Darklink2315, and Epic101. However, the agents have endured a grueling period marked by a bleeding legacy post the 2020/2021 era. Following a defeat in World War IX in 2023, the army’s size began to dwindle under the leadership of Legoman and Sweater. The once #2 army had toppled to S/M Status, maxing 15 by October 2024.
Legoman remained the face of the army throughout its most turbulent recent years, often viewed as a central figure in its struggles. Legoman returned the army to the #1 spot in April 2023, the first time in nearly eight years. However, reports revealed a toxic culture characterized by manipulation and grooming, which led to a declaration of war by four major armies and a permanent stain on SWAT’s reputation. Fun x Time and Fwapo attempted to lead the army back to its former heights, but their tenure saw the army maxing averages of 10.
Internal Turmoil
This downward spiral accelerated with a massive leadership exodus in December 2024, where the entire high command resigned. The situation worsened in February of 2025 when the SWAT Discord server was defaced by Kyle104, forcing a desperate restructuring. Veterans Holo2, Subzero and later Versa momentarily returned to stabilize the army, managing to push sizes back to 15+.
However, the army again plummeted after the resignation of Holo2 and Subzero. WilliamW2010 was instated as leader, but the army fell to barely maxing 5 for most of 2025 under his leadership. Several armies declared war on SWAT during this time, including Void Troops, Teutons, and Thunder Troops, further lowering morale.
Fleeting Hope
Subsequent attempts to save the army, most notably Operation: Phoenix in December 2025, led by xdemon and AB, took off strong, with the army hitting numbers near 20 in the first few weeks, and showing signs of resurgence. However, it failed to gain long-term momentum and soon fell apart after departures. After the leadership changes in January, the army entered a lockdown state under Ggogle’s tenure due to inconsistent performance.
SWAT’s final event occurred on February 21, 2026, defending their capital, Mammoth, against their historic enemies, Army of Club Penguin. The Agents maxed just 6 troops, putting up a fight but eventually failing to defend their historic capital. Two days later, SWAT Godfather Dommy announced SWATs official shutdown.

William: SWAT is special to me, I joined at the age of 10 during MM 2021, over the years I have gotten attached, it saddens me to see it go.
After all these years, the Special Weapons and Tactics have closed this era of their history, marking a bumpy road in their legacy but one to learn from for the next generation. It is unclear whether SWAT will return anytime soon, though it seems they remain ambitious to any future project once again. What do you think? Should SWAT revive again this year?
