Army World Cup: Death Group First Round Recap + Interviews

The Army World Cup Death Group has started with a lot of action, as great battles have taken place already, with some surprises. Let us check out what happened during the first round of the Death Group.

Romans vs. Shadow Legionnaires

The first battle of the Death Groups saw the two S/M giants, Romans and Shadow Legionnaires, face eachother in a crucial battle to win the Army World Cup. Despite the Romans’ clean sweep run in the tournament, the Shadow Legionnaires were able to make the battle close with their ability to counter the Romans in a lot of moments during the battle.

The Romans were able to execute many exceptional and impressive formations, giving them a lot of spotlight and room to cover. The Legionnaires had a few moments where they were able to counter-attack, though it was not enough to defeat the Romans. Therefore, Romans won the battle in a 3-0 sweep, carrying their battle sweep streak.

Void Troops vs. Scarlet Republic

This battle between the Void Troops and the Scarlet Republic saw a lot of expectations beforehand towards VT, with SR coming out of a taxing war between major giants like the Army of Club Penguin and the Water Vikings. The two armies have had a lot of experience in battles, so both were ready to tip the other over.

One little issue the Void Troops forgot was the max, as they struggled to outmax the Scarlet Republic for most of the battle. SR was able to capitalize on this, with both sizes being close, and performance and leading skills being the biggest tiebreaker. At the end, the Scarlet Republic was able to grab the win in a 2-1-0 win, overwhelming the Void Troops and grabbing 3 points in a major upset.

After a fruitful first round of the Death Group, we are left with these rankings below.

Club Penguin Army League reached out to all of Znation and Ghostt, Roman, and Scarlet Republic’s leaders, respectively, for an interview regarding their win in the first round of the Death Group.

How does winning this first battle of the Death Group make you feel as it puts you in a decent spot in the rankings and increases your odds in winning the tournament?

Znation, Romans leader: Romans has been putting in hard work for the tourney and have been motivated to bring the trophy home so its nice to be in a decent spot in the rankings since the only tourney romans won before was in 2015 and bringing one home in 2026 will be a nice addition.

Ghostt, SR leader: Honestly it was a fun battle overall and we didnt expect to really win anything in death group so it was very exciting for the entire team. We look forward to our performance in the next 2 battles.

How do you predict the rest of the Death Group goes for you and your army?

Znation, Romans leader: I prefect a sweep against sr and vt

Ghostt, SR leader: I honestly hope for the best for my army but in all fairness I dont know if we are strong enough as we are right now to defeat Romans and Shadow Legionnaires. We will return to a strong state soon we just need to lock in a bit behind the scenes first.

Any word to your next opponents?

Znation, Romans leader: Znation best s/m leader.

Ghostt, SR leader: I wish our opponents the best of luck because they will need it even if we don’t max a shit ton.

We also reached out to Dbsa, and Thunder, Void Troops and Shadow Legionnaire’s leaders, respectively, on their first round loss.

With growing competitiveness in the tournament, how do you plan on winning the tournament despite your battle loss?

Dbsa, VT leader: With enough dedication and hype, we can possibly turn the result and get back and running in the Death Group, maybe we can win the tournament. But nobody knows what will happen

Thunder, SL leader: If we dont win vs void troops, its cause of our lack of members really, me and the staff have been hard working recruiting people in the server and more into improving the space. 11pm eest events are just a pain in the stomech for me and others.

Can you name me one thing your army lacked in that ended up costing you a battle in the Death Group?

Dbsa, VT leader: We lacked dedication. But this doesn’t mean it’s the end, as far as we continue we will do our best to hopefully secure the win

Thunder, SL leader: Our members mostly being on mobile rather then PC and a lot of them not turning up

Any words to the rest of your opponents this week?

Dbsa, VT leader: Good luck and try your best

Thunder, SL leader: good luck.

Tensions are rising high as the champion of the tournament is slowly being shaped up through these crucial battles. The Romans are continuing their win streak, showing clear odds to be crowned champion, though with how surprising some of these battles have ended up, it could be anyone’s game by the end of the week. Who do you think will be the champion this week? Will we see any more upsets?
