What If: Club Penguin Warfare Stopped Existing

Club Penguin Warfare. The root cause for all activity in Armies, and the reason many of us are even in the community. What if it vanished? What would possibly happen to Club Penguin Armies? Let’s imagine a world where, if we woke up tomorrow, everything stayed the same – yet warfare simply ceased to exist.

Warfare has always been the beating heart of our community, with it serving as the very reason we are even branded as “Club Penguin Armies”. If it were to simply cease existing, the armies themselves would be irrevocably changed. Although it can be argued that, without the drama surrounding war, armies would simply rebrand into Club Penguin focused community servers, it would be far more likely that there would be a mass exodus from the community. Armies bring a vast amount of activity to the modern Club Penguin scene, through holding events on Club Penguin Journey, or making guides for CPPSes – without war being a driving force for armies to continually grow, we may see these disappear. Furthermore, with Club Penguin Armies tending towards an “army” focus first and “Club Penguin” second, many within the community who are only present for the army subculture would leave, likely to find some other vessel to quell their army need.

Picture from World War Rewritten

One of the largest questions would be the matter of Club Penguin Armies Battleground. As this was made with the primary focus of facilitating war itself, if warfare were to stop existing, the only use it would have is in facilitating tournaments. Therefore, general activity on the CPPS would most likely decrease – there would be no point in invading lands (unless someone were truly just a map painter) without war. In this same regard, anyone who wished to hold an event would mirror the way more community-focused armies (such as Aliens) do, with their main priority being CPPSes such as CPJ. We cannot say for certain that CPAB would completely die out, but it would likely gather dust like all the other low-activity CPPSes.

We can even question the matter of tournaments themselves – if war ceased to exist, what would a tournament look like? Since tournaments are themselves battles, it would come down as to whether war was simply legislated out, or if the very concept of it was erased. In the first scenario, tournaments would likely be unchanged, with the battle system kept as a relic of the past. However, in the second, tournaments could possibly resemble how many armies currently host Olympics – there would be more engagement with the minigames, with Club Penguin as a whole rather than just as a means to an end for conducting army activity.

Aftermath

Without wars in Club Penguin Armies, it would be almost pointless for it to be called Club Penguin “Armies”. On top of that, activity would likely decrease in leagues and armies due to war being a main source of hype and encouragement to be in an army. Those that remained would most likely rebrand into a larger focus on being a Club Penguin focused community server, still holding events, but with a greater emphasis on people who play and enjoy Club Penguin. Practice battles, branch battles, war battles. They’re all made for one purpose: War. Without war, Club Penguin Armies would be completely different.

Club Penguin Army League reached out to Aurora for an interview regarding this topic.

How do you think Club Penguin warfare affects the activity of Club Penguin?

Aurora: It increases activity.

Imagine if Club Penguin warfare were gone? What do you think would happen?

Aurora: The community would be more isolated, but not die out. Armies would keep to themselves.

Do you think Club Penguin army battles have improved in general. And what factors do you feel like victory should be determined by?

Aurora: It’s much more fast-paced. Victory should be determined how armies use their size and less about how many troops are online. Smaller armies should still have a chance to win.

What do you think would happen to big communities that adapted to CPA’s warfare-like environment if it suddenly disappeared? And do you think they could invent a new way to keep their activity on the rise?

Aurora: It depends on the circumstances warfare is implemented. It wouldn’t really work for communities that are more based on cooperation. They could come up with incentives to boost activity like armies have in CPA.

Thanks to Aurora for this interview.

We can see that Club Penguin warfare plays an important within our community, to the point that imagining Armies without it is almost impossible. It being gone would lead to a community completely alien to our very own. Club Penguin Armies has always been unique, especially with its own special idea of warfare. Do you think CPA could survive without warfare? Do you think warfare is important in armies?
