Siege of Rhodes Ends With Surrender

What began as open war ended almost immediately in total surrender, as both the Aliens and the Scarlet Republic laid down their arms. Mere hours before Scarlet Republic were set to defend their capital from the Army of Club Penguin and Water Vikings, they, alongside their allies, Aliens, both surrendered. Citing reasons such as inappropriate behaviour from the Vikings and unfair advantages, both armies dropped out of the Siege of Rhodes. What follows is a full account of the events leading to the surrender, the accusations raised, and the immediate aftermath of the conflict.

Just hours before the Army of Club Penguin’s invasion of the Scarlet Republic’s capital was due to occur, both the Republic and their allies, the Aliens have surrendered the war. What began as a 1v1 between the Clovers and the Republic, ended in a war between four armies. The war began on January 20 following the release of a declaration against the Scarlet Republic by ACP’s advisor, Chkn, who stated that despite the support given to the army across their lifespan, the leaders of SR had betrayed their trust and showed constant animosity towards them. The war didn’t stay in a 1v1 format for long however, as soon after the ACP’s declaration was published, the Republic’s allies, the Aliens, released their own declaration against the Green Army. Citing loyalty to their allies and the imbalance of forces, the Aliens moved quickly to involve themselves in the conflict.

What looked to be another war between the Clovers and the Aliens, instead ended with a fourth army, the Water Vikings entering on January 21. Declaring support for their allies in a post titled; Welcome to the Jungle, the Vikings addressed claims of unfair judging in battles between themselves and the Aliens, citing these reasons as the basis of their war. With four battles occurring between the armies already, it looked to be a jam-packed war full of battles from either side. This, however, didn’t last long as the tensions finished almost as soon as they started, with a full surrender from both SR and Aliens. With reasons of inappropriate misconduct and behaviour, valuing standards and standing up for what they believe is right, both armies chose to go no further, releasing their land and issuing declarations detailing the full extent of their surrender.

Scarlet Republic’s Surrender

With both wars now over, tensions didn’t stop immediately as force treaties were issued as a result of the loss. The Siege of Rhodes may have concluded, but the hostilities continued into community chats. Leaders from all armies went back and forth, complaining and celebrating, over the battles and declarations. What most hoped to be a strong and eventful war, ended up being short and lacklustre. Treaties were issued, and victory was declared; the war had officially concluded with the release of posts titled Victory and You Call Yourselves Leaders? on the Clovers’ and Vikings’ websites. Addressing both armies individually and the wider army community, and praising their troops for the results they achieved, the war was formally brought to a close.

In an attempt to find out more about the surrender and hear their thoughts on the war situation, CPAL reached out to Scarlet Republic leader Ghostt for his thoughts on the war.

Ghostt, SR leader: Honestly my team and I at Scarlet Republic agreed early on when we saw the declaration that it would be a good bit of experience before the upcoming CPAL tournament and we were able to test some of our staff members in the process. Although as things progressed it got a bit out of hand for an army our size and with WV creating complications for us and Aliens we decided to just cut our losses. Nothing more really needs to be said it was a shitshow of a war as always.

With war now over, and tensions still high, the Siege of Rhodes will be remembered less for the battles that occurred and more for how quickly it came to an end. What looked to be an exciting war that signaled the end of the current era of the map, ended with lackluster results and land lost. A show of force ended with a withdrawal and surrender from two armies. With both the Aliens and Scarlet Republic stepping away from the battlefield, questions now remain around how long this will last and what implications it could have on both communities. Whether this be a turning point for new relations or just a pause before the next conflict, the events surrounding the Siege of Rhodes will leave a lasting impact on those involved, alongside the broader community.
